Amy Barnes, Principal.

Amy Barnes is an FPN founder, offering clients more than a decade of experience in the fundraising and event planning industries with organizations from Fortune 500 companies to start-up nonprofits. Prior to her role as a principal of Fundraising Partners Northwest, Amy established Strategic Events & Fundraising LLC (SE&F) with partner Val Motley in 1998.

At SE&F, Amy worked with state and federal political candidates and nonprofit organizations on a variety of fundraising and event planning efforts across the United States and beyond. Amy began her career in Washington, D.C. coordinating special events for the Alaska congressional delegation, as well as conferences and tours with members of Congress and staff. During this time, she traveled to locations as diverse as the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska and Puerto Rico. After returning to the west coast, Amy worked as campaign field director and campaign finance director for state and federal political campaigns throughout the northwest and Alaska.

After moving to Seattle and co-founding SE&F, Amy managed the Safeco Scholarship Fund dinner at Safeco Field. Her expertise helped the Fund contribute $1.5 million to diversity scholarships at the University of Washington. Amy’s work with the Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation has given her international experience in cities such as Vladivostok, Russia and Seoul, Korea. She also coordinated three annual events for the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, raising more than $530,000 for this living, national memorial to President Wilson.

Amy’s political fundraising experience includes directing statewide campaigns. She managed fundraising for the Mike McGavick for Senate campaign in 2006 and the Dino Rossi for Governor campaign in 2004. With Amy’s guidance, the McGavick campaign raised over $10 million from supporters across the country. The Rossi campaign raised more than $6.2 million in just 11 months, with more than 96 percent of those funds from Washington State residents. Through her political work, Amy has developed and managed VIP events with Seattle Seahawks Robbie Tobeck, Matt Hasselbeck and Mack Strong; First Lady Laura Bush; former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani; Vice President Dick Cheney; former Seattle Mariner Jay Buhner; former New Jersey Governor and EPA Administrator Christine Todd Whitman; U.S. Senator John McCain and many other members of Congress.

Amy is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and graduate of the AFP/AAFRC Consultants School, holds a certificate in fundraising management from the University of Washington, is a member of the Northwest Development Officers Association and of the Alaska Committee of the Seattle Chamber of Commerce. Amy grew up in Anchorage, Alaska and holds a bachelor of arts degree from Denison University in Granville, Ohio.

Her clients appreciate Amy’s ability to be both practical and passionate about her work, and consider responsiveness her number one asset. Amy is an extraordinary multi-tasker who is always available and willing to assist.
