Case Study: Cathy McMorris for U.S. Congress

In 2004 and 2006, Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris retained FPN to coordinate the campaign’s fundraising activities. With opposition in both 2004 and 2006, Cathy needed aggressive fundraising and grassroots campaigns to win the 5th Congressional District. Fundraising activities included coordinating a finance committee of over 30 members, developing and implementing a finance plan, coordinating special events and managing a direct mail program.
In 2006, the 5th Congressional District was an all mail-in ballot district, which proved to be a challenge for the campaign. There was a need to get campaign messages out to voters earlier than in the past, and to keep messages in front of voters until the election, a longer time than usual. FPN worked with the campaign to make sure that important fundraising benchmarks were met. As a result, Congresswoman McMorris was able to effectively communicate her messages in a timely manner.
In both 2004 and 2006 elections, it was critical for Congresswoman McMorris to raise needed money to fund important voter contact programs. The Cathy McMorris for U.S. Congress campaign exceeded all fundraising goals. McMorris was elected Congresswoman from the 5th Congressional District in both 2004 and 2006.
